My first experience with boxing was the televised 1964 Olympics. I have been fascinated and repelled by this violent dance and have wondered how it would feel to be on the receiving end of one of these blows. The immediacy of the monotype technique seemed a perfect and safe way to experience this.
About the artist
Susan Kendrot lives with her husband, Dick, in Windsor, NY and works from her studio in Johnson City, NY. She is a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and a former teacher in the Windsor School District.
Susan has had one person shows at Coker College in Hartsville, SC, AFA Gallery in Scranton, PA, Cooperative Gallery 213 in Binghamton, NY and Hartwick College in Oneonta, NY. She was awarded a 3 month fellowship at Whorlitzer Foundation in Taos, NM and has had her work accepted in numerous juried regional and national shows.
